Reshma Fabrics LTD is a major textile fabric producer located in the Chhatral region near Ahmadabad, in the Western part of India. It was set up in 1993 and in 2013 it expanded its production capacity by taking over Reshma Fabrics. The portfolio now includes manufacturing and marketing of fancy bottom weights and shirting fabrics. The installed capacity of 51 looms includes Picanol Gamma, OptiMax and OptiMax-i machines. Over the years the company has expanded continuously to adopt the latest rapier weaving technology. Reshma Fabrics now employs around 90 people. Its vision is to be India’s best integrated enterprise for textile solutions with a leadership position across products and markets. It seeks to delight customers through excellence in manufacturing and customer service based on a creative combination of state-of-the-art technology and human resources. To supplement its manufacturing capacity the company ordered 12 OptiMax-i and 40 OMNIplus Summum weaving machines from Picanol Group, Belgium. "Picanol Sales & Service provided invaluable support for selecting the machine specs. It was also top-class in terms of installation guidance, commissioning and troubleshooting, aftermarket sales support for spare parts, accessories and even for training of the factory technicians," says general manager Mikul D. Patel. "The Picanol team included several people based locally in Ahmadabad. Their engineers were keen to share their technical know-how with us, and we are currently looking forward to a Mill Manager's training program at the Picanol headquarters in Belgium."
Advantages that helped to sway the choice in favor of Picanol included:
- Machines manufactured according to EU standards
- High RPM gains, better than any other weaving machine in the world
- Quality of metallurgy used
- Patented SUMO motor drive which is very energy efficient
- No belt & no clutch in the SUMO main motor, resulting in low maintenance and higher productivity thanks to lack of slippage at machine start-up.
- Various other technical features that reduce hidden costs of production and provide ease of operation for technicians and machine operators.
"When it comes to reliability and quality of machines, Picanol's advanced metallurgy is supremely important. Across India you see Picanol machines running perfectly even after 20 years," concludes Mr. Patel.
