Damino

Damino was founded in 1900 by Christian David Wäntig as a textile bleaching company. By 1919 it had expanded considerably but then during the Second World War it was almost totally destroyed. Despite this the company managed to completely rebuild itself and to set up various production sites in the region. In 2003 it was acquired by Daun & Cie AG, one of the biggest textile organizations in Germany. But then disaster struck again when the "flood of the century" in Germany destroyed practically everything. The organization responded by investing millions of euros in rebuilding and modernization. Despite these setbacks Damino has been able to position itself as one of Germany's leading weaving mills, offering products such as bedding that can be personalized with the company’s logo or incorporating subtle designs. For instance, hotels can have their own design woven into the bed sheets. In fact hotel linen is a major part of the collection. Damino can offer its customers elegant designs with stripes or squares. For those who want more exclusive bed sheets, Damino offers high-quality products using the finest, combed cotton yarns whose silky shine gives them an extra dimension.

The Damino products are also used in the healthcare sector. The bedding features colorful stripes and motives and there is also a product line for children. In this sector the durability of the bed linen is very important. And in applications where there is a heightened risk of fire Damino's flame-resistant bedding can be used. Psychiatric hospitals, prisons, airlines and railway companies are typical examples. In addition to bed sheets Damino has a wide range of tablecloths distinguished by their quality and durability. As well as being able to choose between different designs (stripes, jacquard, lozenge patterns etc.), customers can also adapt the color of the tablecloth. Together these aspects mean that every order is unique, thanks to Damino's speed and flexibility.

Damino has been a Picanol customer for a very long time. After the flood disaster of 2010 the relationship between Damino and Picanol became closer than ever. At the height of the flood the weaving machines were completely under water for a short time. Damino urgently contacted the Picanol aftersales service and Picanol immediately sent one of their expert technicians. Thanks to their professional support Damino was able to restart the Picanol weaving machines after about one week, with a minimum of damage and repair. Over the past few years Damino has progressively acquired another 20 new OptiMax rapier weaving machines, and currently another eight brand-new OptiMax-i weaving machines are being installed.
